a thank you + codes

It's been around two weeks since I created this blog and we already have 60 followers!!? I'm so grateful for all the readers, visitors, and for all the little interactions we've had so far <3 Thank you sooo much!!

60 followers might seem like nothing on other platforms, but I feel like I've come to appreciate every single one of you so much more ever since I started blogging. I'm having so much fun writing my posts, reading other people's blogs, leaving comments, and just being part of this wonderful small community.

As a little thank you, I'm gonna be releasing some of the codes I've used for my blog! I have quite a few interactive elements here, and some of you have already been asking me to share them, so I figured, why not? <3

For now, I'm thinking of releasing one of the following: the lightable candle, the interactive window, the music player, or the clickable character with a speech bubble.

I do plan on releasing the message board someday too, but since it's connected to a third party service, I still need to figure out how to put together a proper tutorial for setting everything up.

You can vote on which code you'd like me to release first below!

the scent of things i remember

As a perfume lover, I thought it would be interesting to compose a few fragrances inspired by memorable chapters of my life. This actually used to be a huge tiktok trend a while back, haha (or actually it still might be).

I've always had a tendency to associate certain memories with particular scents. Sometimes, all it takes is catching a whiff of something familiar and I get hit by a insane wave of nostalgia.

With that in mind, I tried to capture a few of those fleeting moments :

1.

Scent of violin rosin, decade old carpet on the floor, the shelves are filled with aging sheet music paper and dusty books. An old slavic teacher is yelling at you while you're forced to practice the same passage over and over again, you can smell the bitter coffee on her breath, a faint, salty trace of perspiration lingers beneath the scene.

so ... i re-read the secret history by donna tartt and realized I used to be a pretentious elitist

I purchased the book on a whim after watching milions of dark academia aesthetic videos on tiktok, where the novel was wildly popular at the time (it was approx. 2021). I was already trying to curate a similar aesthetic for myself - a first year law student teaching herself latin, reading aristotle on the bus on her way to university. You get the picture.

I was deep into my romanticizing my life era, and I thought this book would fit the vibe I was going for perfectly. I even went out and bought sticky tabs and highlighters specifically to annotate it, because of course I had to.

______________________________________________________________

If you haven't read the book, here's a short synopsis (SPOILER WARNING):

The story follows the main narrator, Richard Papen, who transfers to Hampden College in Vermont. Richard is later on accepted into an exclusive ancient greek program taught by Professor Julian Morrow. He's taking the class with five other students (Henry, Bunny, Francis, and twins Charles and Camilla), who are all extremely wealthy. Over the school year, Richard gets closer to his classmates and ultimately gets invited to spend his weekends with them at Francis’s country house.

life update

Lately I’ve been feeling completely drained. In september I started a new job as a junior lawyer. With five years of experience working as a paralegal, I thought I was ready for the lawyer life, but I quickly realised just how much more responsibility comes with it.

I feel like I’m under constant pressure, and every day I get home from work I'm like a zombie, unable to do anything othher than to eat dinner and then doom scroll till I go to sleep. So this weekend I knew I needed to slow down and take some time to clear my mind.

My boyfriend and I decided to go for a walk around our local zoo. It was my first time seeing red pandas in real life and I swear I spent a good 30 minutes just watching them run around. They look like big fluffy stuffed animals come to life <33 I’m seriously in love and I already know I’ll be visiting these little guys all the time.

Of course, I took some pictures and wanted to share them with you guys :

there's just something about twilight (2008)

There's no denying that the whole twilight saga was revolutionary in a way. But am I the only one who feels like the other four movies in the franchise just don't hit the same as the original twilight?

From the color palette and direction to the pacing and cinematography, there's something about the first movie that feels entirely different from the rest. And of course I can't forget the amazing soundtrack, which only adds to its indie perfection.

The first twilight movie got the audience hooked on vampires and left them desperately wanting more. But despite the franchise's massive success, I don't think any of the sequels ever managed to recreate the very specific atmosphere of the original.

In this blog post, I want to delve a little deeper into the history of Twilight (2008), its production, and the creative decisions that gave the movie its entirely unique vibes

the need to believe

I come from a christian, roman catholic family. I wasn't raised catholic, though. In fact, my family had always been somewhat atheistic, or perhaps agnostic, before my dad's sister passed away.

After my aunt's passing, my dad turned to catholicism to soothe his grief.

Being christian isn't particularly common in my country, and neither is going to church (although there are hundreds of churches scattered all around). Both my mom and dad started attending church when I was around 15 years old.

The local parish is a very small, tight-knit community, but they welcomed both of my parents with open arms. My dad got baptized about a year later.

Even though I didn't grow up catholic, I did spend my teenage years in close proximity to catholicism. The priests would visit our home often, and we used to invite them over for dinner at least twice a month. Of course, my parents also started observing pretty much every catholic tradition there is.

Being a teenager did kind of affect my view of it all. Even though my parents never outright forced me to participate, they did occasionally guilt trip me and my sister into joining them for the religious ceremonies.

Sometimes, though, I wished I could be christian as well. Being one of the priest's lambs seems like a rather comfortable position to be in.

forever overcast?

Hi there, lovely people reading this <3

Welcome to my new blog! I already have one blog - pixelated diary ( here ) but I feel like the aesthetic and the overal vibe of the blog wouldn't mesh well with some certain themes and topics. I made my pixelated diary to be a form of sweet escapism for me, to focus on my favorite activities, hobbies etc. Posting venting content, essays about current real world issues and problems, etc. wouldn't feel appropriate there. That's why I decided to make this blog. I intend to use this blog as a safe space for my ramblings about different topics, as well as posts about themes that don't relate to my first blog. So there's that! If you decide to stick around, feel free to follow me <3

Sincerely,

Teresa
